We have no information of when William Shakespeare was born, but we know that he was baptized on April 1564 and that he married Anne Hathaway at the age of 18. William Shakespeare had three children and lived in a small English town called Stratford-Upon-Avon, of where he worked as an actor and writer.
William Shakespeare wrote many different genres of plays, he wrote Comedy, History, Tragedies, and Tragicomedies. The genre, Comedy was a light funny story that always had a happy ending. History was always about some things that happened, like about wars. And Tragedies would be a sad story that always wound up with an unhappy ending. There was a genre, of which was a mix between Comedy and Tragedy which was called Tragicomedy. Tragicomedy was a complex romance story with many different feelings mixed in and was sometimes, but not always, happy.
William Shakespeare was the part owner of a leading play company in London called Lord Chamberlain's Men. The company was awarded a royal patent by James I, and then changed the name to King's men. They built a sophisticated theater called The Globe, which had a beautiful location on the south bank of the Thames River in London. The Globe had been burnt down but is now remade around the same area.
William Shakespeare became rich, but even so, he kept on acting. William Shakespeare bought a large house called the New Place. He retired to Stratford-Upon-Avon and died in April 1616 leaving his wife and three daughters alone in the world. William Shakespeare's grandchildren died without being married, thus, his family line is now extinct.
Many doubt the credibility that William Shakespeare was the real author of all the plays, but we still do not know if he is, or is not the real playwright.
