Vikings were seamen and went on many expeditions. The Vikings did not leave many records, but we do know about them by runestones left be them. The Vikings worshipped paganism, pantheism, and they were barbarous, although when they settled down, they were very organised.
The Vikings travelled by sea. They had two main ships. The longship and the Knarr. The longships were used in warfare. They had the same designs on the front and back, so they could easily change course. The longships moved by using oars, and later on the wind, to propel the ship forwards. The Knarr was a smaller ship and was used for Merchandise. The Knarr was made shorter, and with a wider full. The Knarr was powered by the wind, although it could be propelled by rowers.
The Vikings alphabet was depicted on runestones. The runestones showed the purpose of the stone, who made the stone, and the relations of the maker of the stone and also the deceased.
The Vikings religion was Pantheistic, and three of the most famous Pantheistic gods were: Odin, Thor, and Freya. Odin is still remembered today as, "Wednesday". Thor is remembered today as, "Thursday". While Freya is remembered as,"Friday". Later on, the Vikings believed in Christianity.
The Vikings fought in many wars to expand their kingdom. The Vikings weapons depended on their status. The main weapons used were battle axes, but they did use bows and arrows. They thought that when they used arrows to kill, it was not as honorable. The Vikings fought separately each for himself, unlike the Romans, who fought in order.
The Vikings did not have horns on their helmet (that would have been weird), and also they were not always barbarians. The Vikings were blue eyed and had blond/red hair. They were either Farmers, Raiders, Metalworkers or Jewelers.
The Vikings had a very different culture than most tribes did, but as most of the barbarian tribes did, they converted into Christianity in the future.
